Dubai Municipality participating in WETEX 2006

Dubai Municipality is participating in the international exhibition and conference on Water, Energy Technology and Environment, WETEX 2006, which was opened on Monday by Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Municipality is participating in WETEX for the eighth consecutive year and this year the civic body is represented in the exhibition by the departments of Drainage and Irrigation, Environment, Public Health, Abattoir, and Public Parks and Horticulture, in addition to the Environment and Health Education Office.
The Drainage Department is promoting its existing projects like Jebel Ali Sewage Treatment Plant and other future projects while the Public Parks and Horticulture Department is there to explain the facilities available at its major parks.
The Abattoirs Department talks about its role in keeping the hygiene and the advantage of opting for automatic abattoirs. It also demonstrates electronic equipment used for rapid water hygiene test. This is used to assess the hygienic status of process equipment and the efficiency of Clean in Place procedures by the rapid measurement of the total Adenosine Tri Phosphate in the rinse water.
The Public Health Department is represented by Food Control, Clinic and Community Services, Veterinary Services and Pest Control sections. The Pest Control Section has exhibited the equipment used for capturing mosquitoes and distributes leaflets about the activities of the Section.
The Environment and Health Education Office has organized a workshop for school children at the Municipality stall. The workshop on recycling waste and reducing the consumption of water is being attended by a group of students from Salma Al Ansariya School all three days of the exhibition. They are also participating in drawing and painting activities on the topic of water consumption.
