Leading Indian University to have academic collaboration with the proposed RAK Medical and Health Sciences University

The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), a leading Indian university, has entered into a tie-up with the Government of Ras Al Khaimah to provide academic collaboration for the proposed RAK Medical and Health Sciences University (RAK MHSU).

The RAK Medical and Health Sciences University proposes to offer various degree programmes in Medicine (MBBS), Dentistry (BDS) and Pharmacy (B.Pharma) in the first phase and courses in Nursing and Allied Health Sciences in the second phase.

The authorities are hoping to start admission to the first batch by February 2007, subject to approvals by the UAE Government authorities.
The University will start functioning only after the full accreditation by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and authorities are in the process of securing the mandatory approvals.

Dr. H S Ballal, Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education said that MAHE is pleased to associate itself with the Government of Ras Al Khaimah in the setting up and having the academic collaboration for the RAK Medical and Health Sciences University. 'The RAK MHSU will be located adjacent to the existing Saqr hospital which will be utilized for the clinical training', he said.

Dr Ballal said that MAHE brings with it five decades of experience in imparting quality professional education on par with international standards. He added that MAHE was the first medical and health science group of institutes in the private sector in India to be recognized as a Deemed University by the Government of India.

Manipal group is the leading Indian education group located in the sprawling township of Manipal and having facilities in Mangalore, Sikkim, Nepal, Malaysia and Dubai comprising of two Universities, 27 professional colleges, constituent institutions and numerous primary and high schools.
