Etisalat is main sponsor of President's Polo Cup 2006

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat- announced today that it has signed on as the main sponsor for the President's Polo Cup 2006, which will be held at Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club from 18th to 24th March 2006 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Club.

This championship is considered to be one of the top polo events where the best polo players from UAE and abroad compete to win this cup. The teams participating include Ghantoot Polo Team, UAE Etisalat Polo Team, and Horse and Course Polo Team.

HH Sheikh Falah thanked Etisalat for sponsoring this event and said: 'Etisalat's decision to support this championship shows how Corporations in the UAE are committed to taking part in and helping the success of various sporting initiatives in the UAE. Such events are sure to raise the profile of the nation in different arenas.'

'The President's Polo Cup helps popularise the sport within and outside the UAE, and also adds another sport to the already extensive list of sporting events that are held in the UAE,' he added.

According to the sponsorship agreement, the UAE team will have Etisalat's name and logo on their shirt during the championship. Besides, Etisalat branding will appear on the play fields as well as on marketing communication related to the event.

Mohammed Hassan Omran, Chairman and CEO of Etisalat, stated that the Corporation is committed to its goal of giving back in many ways to the society in which it operates. He said, 'Etisalat's involvement with the sports world has seen us actively involved in many events and championships.'

'Polo is a fast growing sport in the country as many become exposed to its excitement. We are happy to be such an integral part of the President's Polo Cup 2006, which is now considered as one of the top events of the international polo circuit,' he added.

Etisalat has sponsored many events in and outside the UAE, and many of these are aimed to encourage involvement in sports. Examples of Etisalat-sponsored sport events include Dubai Tennis Championship, Dubai International Racing Carnival, UAE Football League, FIFA youth world cup, Dubai open chess tournament, Sharjah water sports festival, Fujairah powerboat racing, Al Ain Aerobatics show and Formula 1 Powerboat Championships in Abu Dhabi, among others.
