Dubai Maritime City showcases world's first purpose built maritime cluster to Queensland business delegation

Visiting members of the Queensland Business Delegation for Marine Trade Mission to the UAE got a glimpse of the world's most comprehensive maritime hub at a site visit and meeting with Dubai Maritime City at their offices.

The 8-member delegation led by the Honorable Mike Ahern, the Queensland Government Special Representative to Africa, Middle East was on a maritime trade mission visit to Dubai along with leading Australian maritime companies.

Dubai Maritime City showcased its project, giving a detailed background and showing up to the minute images of the project highlighting the tremendous progress being achieved at the site.

Welcoming the delegation to the high profile event, Amer Ali, Project Manager of Dubai Maritime City said: "We are delighted to welcome the Queensland Business Delegation to view the world's most comprehensive maritime complex located on a 216-hectare man-made peninsula. Dubai Maritime City's principle objectives are to introduce the world's first purpose built maritime cluster, to develop Dubai's ship repair industry and support Dubai's waterfront development."

"This development will provide the core elements of infrastructure required by key marine and maritime-related industries and services in one location that will perfectly complement Dubai's existing shipping operations," he concluded.

The delegation comprised Australian maritime companies that included Sharplift Marine, Kingfisher Cruises, Fusion Catamarans, Deck Wise Yacht Transport, Aurora Global Logistics, MW Design, Design Inc, Sunrunner and Perry Catamarans.
