Cetirizine is used to relieve symptoms of hay fever, seasonal allergy, and allergy to other substances, which include, runny nose, sneezing, and red, itchy, tearing eyes. It is also used to treat symptoms of hives, including itching and rash. Cetirizine is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.
