The road safety campaign, which was first launched in 1998, offers drivers the chance to win spot cash prizes of AED 750 and a Jabra BT205 or BT150 Bluetooth headset.

The Caltex RoadStar contest runs from the 25th to 29th March this year and will be organized by Emirates Motor Sports Federation (EMSF) and Dubai Police. A sponsored car, carrying the judges; a Dubai Police officer, EMSF official and a Radio 2 FM presenter, will be patrolling the streets of Dubai for four days, on the look out for safe drivers.

Ahmed Elkalliny, regional manager for Jabra said, "Road safety is a major issue in Dubai, which will only improve through events such as this that aim to educate drivers. As a Bluetooth mobile phone headset brand, we understand the need for drivers to keep both hands on the wheel whilst talking on the phone. Bluetooth headsets offer drivers the freedom to be hands-free no matter what they are doing and avoid getting tangled up with wires whilst on the move. Jabra is looking forward to the RoadStar competition next week and seeing safe drivers rewarded and road safety highlighted."

Two patrols will be conducted each day, for two hours during rush hour traffic to find safe drivers. Judges will search for drivers that observe traffic regulations, use seatbelts, indicators, lane discipline and are not using their mobile phones without a headset or speakerphone, allowing drivers to the freedom to have both hands on the wheel.

Winning safe drivers will be pulled over and awarded a certificate endorsed by Dubai Police, a cash prize and either a BT205 or BT150 Bluetooth headset. A minimum of twelve winning safe drivers will be chosen each day. Winners will have their fifteen minutes of fame when the Radio 2 FM presenter congratulates them live on air. Throughout the day Radio 2 FM will have regular updates for listeners and tips on Road Safety.

Ahmed Elkalliny ended by saying, "Drivers wanting to participate in the RoadStar competition and ensure they talking safely on the mobile using a headset can go into any large local electronics store and talk to a sales representative about which Bluetooth device is most suitable for their mobile phone, giving them the freedom to keep both hands on the wheel and comply with local mobile phone usage laws."
