General Information Authority and Abu Dhabi Government departments attend ITQAN's Emerging IT Standards and Solutions forum

ITQAN, the UAE's largest system integrator for medium and large institutions, today announced that over 200 representatives from the General Information Authority and other various government and semi-government organisations attended their special forum on "Emerging IT standards and solutions" held in Abu Dhabi on 20 and 21 March 2006.

Organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Planning and Economy Department and in cooperation with UAE General Information Authority, the two-day seminar focused on the practical solutions available today and its implementation.

In his opening address, Feras Al Jabi, GM, ITQAN, said, "Information Technology (IT) is a vital tool for progress and growth. HH Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as chairman of Abu Dhabi Planning and Economy Department has spearheaded the use of technology within the government at the Emirate and Federal levels to provide the best tools for interaction between the various government departments and its residents."

The seminar attracted interest from senior managers from major UAE corporations like oil and gas sector, Abu Dhabi Government departments, Federal organisations, banks, and other government and semi-government organisations.

Representatives from leading vendors including Microsoft, HP, Cisco, Opentext Dicom, and BiP presented some of the most recent solutions available along with practical demonstrations of its use. ITQAN customers presenting case studies at the forum included Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), Abu Dhabi Department of Economy & Planning,
"We wanted to provide a platform for our existing customers to showcase the benefits of using some of the emerging IT solutions we have tailormade for their use," continued Al Jabi.
