Dr. Stephen Covey congratulates Etisalat for continuous leadership development

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat- hosted the world-renowned speaker, Dr. Stephen Covey, the author of the international best seller, 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' and Vice Chairman of the FranklinCovey Co., in an exclusive talk to Etisalat employees.

The recent ceremony was attended by senior executives and employees of the Corporation.

Dr. Covey's speech focused on unleashing human potential and covered methods of developing physical, emotional, mental and spiritual intelligence. It also covered the importance of these types of intelligence; how they relate to one another and how they all affect the behavior and culture of corporate employees in general. Addressing the audience, he said: 'I have high appreciation for this great organization, Etisalat. Cultivating and institutionalizing leadership is an ongoing task and it is commendable to see Etisalat being so passionate about continuous learning.'

Dr. Covey added: 'I congratulate the graduates of the Young Professional Programme. They all must be very proud to work for an organization that places such value in continuous learning and personal development.' The Young Professional Programme has been developed and in conjunction with FranklinCovey Middle East.

In his speech, Abdul Aziz Al Sawaleh, Executive Vice President- Human Resources, Etisalat, said: 'The Young Professional Programme (YPP) has accomplished remarkable results in its contributions to the development of the young employees of the Corporation. This success has encouraged us to launch another programme entitled the 'Future Leaders Programme'. This is considered to be among the most important strategic career development programmes as it targets three levels of management, highlights the mechanisms of development and the challenges faced at these levels, as well as strategies to overcome those challenges and achieve success'. The Future Leaders Programme has been developed in conjunction with a number of world-class management institutions, including The Management School of London, Cranfield School of Management and Ken Blanchard Companies.

Employees who successfully graduated from the 'Young Professional Programme' were recognized. The career development programme was organized and executed by the Career Development Section in Etisalat's Human Resources division.

The 'Young Professional Programme' gave 32 high potential young managers in Etisalat the opportunity were exposed to FranklinCovey's solutions (starting from the 7 Habits for Highly Effective People, Focus; Achieving Your Highest Priorities and the 4 Roles of Leadership to The 4 Disciplines of Execution), aimed to provide them with the opportunity to develop their career, enhance job satisfaction and foster life-long learning.
