The forum, which brings together Chief Risk Officers from regional and foreign banks, takes place at NBAD's Abu Dhabi headquarters on March 26th, 2006.

Mr. Sakit Al Jundi, GM&CRO, NBAD explained that MENA CRO Forum members are very supportive of the adoption of the New Basel Accord in MENA jurisdictions, as they believe this regulation will promote better and more sophisticated risk management practices in the region as well as contribute to preserve the stability of local financial markets.

He also said that the MENA CRO conference provides a useful platform to discuss matters of common interest and consistent regional approach, which will not only be very helpful in a practical sense to banks today, but will facilitate greater economic integration of the region in the future.
