RTA team visits Hong Kong to study the city's public transport system

The four-member team was led by Eng. Naser Hamad Bushhab, Assistant Director, Public Transport Department, RTA. The department has initiated a project in Dubai, which involves the construction of 500 state-of-the-art air-conditioned bus stops which will be equipped with all the latest facilities, including beverage and snack counters. The bus stops will be located throughout the main bus routes across Dubai.

RTA's move to modernise bus stops in Dubai comes in line with its goal to ensure maximum comfort to bus commuters, especially during the summer, when temperatures are at a peak. When complete, the project will be one of the first of its kind in the world.

Madison Outdoor Media, specialists in outdoor advertising, has been entrusted with the task of building the bus stops. During the contract period, Madison Outdoor Media will own the advertising space at the bus stops and can enjoy the revenue generated from the sale of advertising space. After the contract period the bus stops will be completely owned by RTA.

Abdul Azeez Malik, Director, Public Transport Department, said, 'The implementation of this project is an example of the strategic partnership between RTA and the private sector in Dubai. RTA has adopted this strategy to achieve the best possible results by leveraging the strengths of companies from the private sector in various projects of RTA that are aimed at transforming the road and public transport system in Dubai.
