Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, DSO, and Dr. Khaled Toukan, Minister of Education & Scientific Research, Jordan signed the MoU in presence of a number of officials from both sides.
'We are very pleased to provide Jordanian universities with the latest technology of software and equipment to design microelectronics devices and circuits, said Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. This will assist producing well-equipped graduates and skillful human resource to meet the needs of the growing technology industry in the Arab world. DSO is created to cater for technology in the entire region, hence we shall keep our promise to extend every possible help to leverage Arab institutions in terms of technology industry, added Shaikh Ahmed.
He added that, it is imperative for the Arab educational institutions to introduce the latest software programs, if they have to be on par with their counterparts in other countries of the world. One of the main goals of DSO is to link up industrial technology and academic circles to achieve the long term strategy of serving DSO target customers across the electronic value chain.
Dr. Khaled Toukan, said, 'Dubai is always known for its brave initiatives and continuous assistance to their Arab counterparts, thanks to the forward vision of the leaders.
He added 'Jordan is very much aware of the urgent needs for professionals in the technical fields of microelectronics and circuits therefore shall spare no effort to facilitate the introduction of the new software programs in the universities' curriculum. This would not be possible without facilitating instrumental means to capture on the advanced software programs to be provided by DSO.
Dr Mohammed Al Zarouni, Vice President, DSO, said the key objective of partnering with Jordanian universities is to ensure that we have adequate number of professionals to meet the future needs of the hi-tech companies to exist in DSO.He said, DSO will be providing advice on curriculum set-up that focuses on the microelectronics field.'
'According to the MoU DSO will cooperate with the Ministry of Education in Jordan in setting up and implementing scientific applied research and hands-on projects in the universities targeting the microelectronics field, where appropriate,' concluded Al Zarouni.

Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jordanian Higher Education & Scientific Research Ministry to provide the Jordanian higher educational institutions and Universities with the latest software and equipments to design and develop microelectronics devices and circuits.
