Suzuki launches environment friendly four stroke engines
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, March 26 - 2006 at 11:22
- PRESS RELEASE
Auto Sport, a member of the Al Yousuf Group, unveiled the latest Suzuki range of four stroke engines at the Dubai International Boat Show.
For decades two-stroke engines have been the standard motors used not only on boats, but also for snowmobiles, lawnmowers and any other contraptions that need lightweight powerful engines. Unfortunately two-stroke engines have their drawbacks - not only are they noisy, they are also major polluters.
According to an Environment Canada estimate, a 70-horsepower two-stroke outboard motor emits the same mass of hydrocarbon pollution in an hour as a new car does after driving 8,000 kilometres. Anywhere from 30 to 50 per cent of the fuel in a two-stroke engine passes through the combustion chamber unburned. In outboard motors, this unburned fuel is exhausted into the water, along with much of the oil that must be mixed with the fuel.
"The use of two-stroke engines contributes to a significant amount of pollution being dumped into the water and spewed into the air. Four strokes are the engines of the future; two stroke engines will be obsolete by 2007. The new Suzuki DF150 and DF175 four stroke outboards are the most powerful four cylinder outboards ever built by Suzuki and provide the benefits of fuel efficiency and low emissions. They expand on the potential of four stroke power for marine applications by delivering powerful acceleration, quick throttle response and high speed," said Hasan El Houbi, sales and marketing manager, Auto Sport LLC.
The Suzuki DF150 and DF175 are based on a new inline four cylinder power head with the largest displacement to date in the four stroke, four cylinder category. These engines are also light and share other advanced features including a 32-bit onboard computer that monitors and controls engine functions.
Compared to the competition, Suzuki engines are smaller and lighter. Suzuki provides a comprehensive range of four stroke outboard motors from 4 - 250 horsepower. The company has won a number of innovation awards in the field of fuel injected outboards and has also won a number of customer satisfaction surveys internationally.
"New-boat owners are becoming increasingly aware that higher-technology engines deliver a superior overall boating experience. This in turn is translating into higher overall customer satisfaction and loyalty. Customers have created increasing demand for these quiet, efficient, clean-running engines, while new emission standards are pushing manufacturers in the same direction," said Houbi.
