Believing in the significance of participating in various social and academic events in the Kingdom, and as part of its support of scientific and social research activities, Bahrain Islamic Bank, the first Islamic bank in Bahrain, announced its support for the scientific delegation organized by the University of Bahrain (UOB) for a visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in April.

The two students are in the final year of the Media, Tourism and Arts Department of the College of Arts, UOB. BIsB will meet all of their educational trip's cost including airfares, accommodation, boarding costs and local tours in Jordan.

The educational trip organized by the University and supervised by Dr. Habis Samawi and Dr. Fawzia Al Jeeb will start 14 to 20th April, 2006 and aims at acquainting the students with tourism in Jordan and highlighting what Jordan has to offer to its visitors.

The students will learn from Jordan's experience in such areas as family, health and other types of tourist activities in addition to visiting the major tourist sites. The students will also have the opportunity to meet tourism and media officials in Jordan.

Commenting on such support, Mr. Khalid Alkhayat, BIsB Manager Corporate Communications said: "Since we have every confidence in our educated youngsters who contribute to the growth and building of their homeland, and since we are keen on developing tourism in our Kingdom, we have not hesitated for a moment in lending support to this delegation."
He added: "Tourism is currently considered as one of the key sources of income in the countries that have tourism potentials and are able to meet their requirements of tourism projects of various kinds whether health tourism, recreational or sports tourism, as we have recently seen in the organization of such events as the Formula 1 and other successful sports projects and events."

This educational trip also includes numerous programmes that will enable the participants to compile reports, data and information about tourism in Jordan. It will provide academic and tourist materials that will be documented in the archives of the Media, Tourism and Arts Department at the UOB. Thus, their benefits will be enjoyed by students who will use such data in the coming years.

Alkhayat further said: "Bahrain Islamic Bank is making all possible efforts to communicate with various sectors of the Bahrain community and seeks to reward the students for their achievements that will motivate them to continue their efforts to succeed."

During their educational trip to Jordan, the students will attend a number of lectures to be delivered by a number of prominent figures in the Jordanian tourism and media sectors to inform them about their related experience and views.

The visit will not only be educational but will give the students the opportunity to visit some of the Jordanian cities such as Amman, Petra, the Dead Sea in addition to the major tourist sites.
