DCCI receives Spanish trade mission, Al-Mutaiwee receives trade delegation from Iraq

To enhance the mutual cooperation between the UAE and Spain, H.E. Abdurrahman Al-Mutaiwee, Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, received yesterday a Spanish mission headed by Carmen Rodriguez, Chairperson of Expansion Exterior a company operating under the umbrella of the Spanish Trade, Industry and Tourism Ministry, and her delegation.
Al-Mutaiwee welcomed the Spanish trade mission and briefed them on the role the DCCI plays in enhancing the economic movement in Dubai and the support it gives businessmen to develop their activities. DCCI also provides investors with opportunities and enable them to effectively communicate and interact with the business circles locally, regionally and internationally.
Dubai's none-oil foreign trade with Spain marked AED1.4 billion in 2004, its exports to Spain were AED31.1 million, its re-exports to Spain were AED119.9 million, while Dubai's imports from Spain were AED1.3 billion.
On the other hand, Abdurrahman Al-Mutaiwee, DCCI Director General, received on Saturday a trade delegation of Iraqi businessmen from Iraq's Kurdistan Region headed by Hersh M. Al-Tayyar, Chairman of Iraqi Businessmen Union, Kurdistan's Branch.
He said: "Your choice of Dubai as a venue to convene the first Iraqi Kurdish businessmen conference reflects Dubai's significance as an important regional trade center and also refers the sincere inclination of Iraqi businessmen to communicate with the business community in Dubai."
He added that "Kurdistan is endowed with huge natural resources and tourist potentials that enable Iraqi businessmen to benefit efficiently from them, if wanted, as well as benefit from the local and national heritage and encouraging geographical capabilities in attracting tourists and developing the region in a way that reflects on the enhancement of Iraq's economy as a whole."
Hersh M. Al-Tayyar, Chairman of Iraqi Businessmen Union, Kurdistan's Branch, highly rated the stunning economic rise that Dubai has witnessed and the key role DCCI plays in supporting the local economy and enhancing the bilateral relations between Dubai's business community and its counterparts in the world.
"The choice of Dubai as a venue to convene the first Iraqi Kurdish businessmen conference is attributed to the economic significance of Dubai in the Arab world and Middle East generally, and we expect the convention of conference, which had been adjourned due to certain conditions, to take place immediately after the announcement of the central government in Iraq," he added.
