IBM is first in worldwide server revenue share, first in blade server revenue share and first in UNIX-based server revenue.

"IBM prides itself on delivering innovation that matters, helping customers to simplify IT infrastructure and maximize business productivity,"

said Wael Abdoush, Manager of Systems and Technology Group, IBM Middle East, Egypt & Pakistan. "The new System i, System p and xSeries help customers drive real results whether they are operating an enterprise environment or at the SMB level and regardless of their chosen operating system. Key to IBM's strategy is virtualization (enabling our customers to create multiple virtual servers using the same hardware); open systems to create open infrastructures and open infrastructure; and innovation that enables collaboration."

The IBM System i and System p both make use of the IBM POWER5+ processor, a dual-core "system on a chip" that runs at speeds that shows marked increases in performance over the previous POWER5-based models; whilst the high end 64 bit systems in the System p range use the fifth-generation 64-bit IBM POWER5 processors.

IBM incorporates its philosophy for standards-based innovation into a wide range of different kinds of systems enabling integration across diverse, heterogeneous environments. IBM's broad range of server offerings is based on technology that, while innovative, is also open to and interoperable with industry standards:

• IBM's POWER5 processor-based System i and eServer i5 is aimed at midrange requirements providing a complete and secure integrated business system capable of running thousands of the world's most popular business applications.

• IBM System p family and eServer p5 for UNIX and Linux operating systems users, provide powerful, flexible, reliable and secure computing solutions supported from mainframe-inspired reliability features. The competitively priced 64-bit IBM POWER and IBM AIX 5L™ systems deliver excellent overall value through IBM's unique advanced virtualization technology.

• IBM eServer xSeries Intel-based systems combine technology innovation resulting from IBM's decades of business insight with industry-standard components. They offer pay-as-you-grow solutions and deliver exceptional availability, simplified manageability, outstanding performance and revolutionary scalability.
