The Global Supply Chain & Logistics Conference, held for the first time in the Middle East, reflected the outstanding role played by Dubai as a significant regional trade centre in the region. The 3-day conference, was a result of a partnership between the SCLG, which works under the legal backing of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).

Shashi Shekhar, Founder President of the SCLG, said: "We are pleased to organise such an important conference in Dubai to demonstrate that Supply Chain Management is a powerful tool in management science that can leverage positive impact on the bottom line of any organisation."

The conference provided an interesting forum for companies carrying or planning to adopt supply chain management, to assist them in integrating supply and demand management within their operations. The improvement of logistics management was also discussed in the conference to enable companies to coordinate and optimise all logistics' activities and incorporate them with other functions.

"Supply Chain Management always involves at least three companies: the supplier, the distributor, and the consumer. Therefore, in adopting this approach, it is essential to balance the economics of production with the economics of cooperation for the best sought outcomes," Shekhar added.

After enjoying a successful event, with participation of over 100 industry professionals representing top companies and organisations, the SCLG and CSCMP have committed to join efforts to organise such vital events in the future for promoting supply chain processes in the region.
