To be organised in Muscat between April 1 and 3, 2006, the WSIE is the first-of-its kind forum, which aims to develop practical solutions to address the most important issues facing emerging nations and to inspire the development of the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators to fully celebrate the opportunities of the 21st century in a climate of global prosperity.

In total, more than 85 confirmed high profile speakers from around 60 countries will participate at the Summit, including several pre-eminent thought leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and developers.

Talking about the need for enhanced cooperation from the region, Mr. Hamdan said:

'The Summit consists of inspiring themes that simultaneously address real issues facing entrepreneurs and innovators within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and across the world while providing opportunities for established leaders and entrepreneurs alike to spread prosperity for future generations and create a new and vibrant future. Attracting the right profile of speakers is imperative to achieve the overall objectives of the forum, which will influence innovative thinking and economic and social development of the emerging markets.'

He added: 'It is paramount to share the experience and expertise of entrepreneurs from the GCC and Arab states because more interaction will achieve a better outcome in terms of the knowledge sharing platform the Summit is looking to form. There are lessons to be learned from the global industry leaders attending and they are eager to hear how these emerging markets of the Arab world need aid, as well as the opportunities for Foreign Direct Investment.'

'The MENA region is surging economically at the moment. Meanwhile, the changes taking place in the global economy make it necessary that the connections between the Arab world and the outside are further strengthened. This begins with a basic understanding on both sides and organizing this Summit reflects the importance of what we are aiming to achieve.'

The speakers of the WSIE will address in detail the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in improving the levels of performance in all areas of the Arab World for future generations. To realize this vision, the forum will focus on six key actions:

1. Improve infrastructure to achieve global competitiveness;
2. Empower human development to accelerate knowledge partnerships;
3. Inspire minds to leverage our imaginative talents for sustainable development;
4. Make innovations foster better governance and legal reforms;
5. Share reports from leaders and entrepreneurs on stimulating growth ventures; and
6. Explore the impact of innovation trends on our future lives.

'At the WSIE, we can really say that there will be something for everyone. We are urging local businesspersons and individuals from the government sector to take the benefits of interacting with such leading figures. This Summit offers vast opportunities for building up strong contacts, as well as being a valuable contributor of innovative ideas for the MENA emerging market.'

Mr. Hamdan concluded: 'Looking at the strong participation and the wide interest that this Summit has generated among traders and professionals on a global level we are confident that this event will further strengthen the understanding of this region and identify the opportunities to leverage its future successes.'
