AUST students discuss alternative energy
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, March 28 - 2006 at 15:45
- PRESS RELEASE
Four female AUST Network students from the Faculty of Education & Basic Sciences have concluded that water and wind energy are the cleanest and most renewable forms of energy.
Moza Abdul Rehman said, "We formed a specialized student task force to conduct a comprehensive research on water and wind energy. The research focused on the definition and properties of energy, and the ways to ration it. We also examined how the Gulf and Arab countries develop and store energy resources." The research was supervised by Dr Ahmed Abdul Sattar.
Zinab Zahir said, "Since the energy crisis in the 1970s, the whole world has been calling for alternative energy sources. The concentration was on solar, wind, and water energy and hydrogen-extracted energy."
GCC countries rich with oil and gas also need alternative forms of energy because energy from wind and water will be free of any pollutants, and will also be cheaper in price.
Hanan Mohammed Al Kharousi said, "We have looked into many successful experiments conducted by a number of countries in the world who use alternative forms of energy. Many countries in the West and China have invested a great deal of capital into sustainable wind and water energy sources."
