- PRESS RELEASE
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the modification work on Al Maktoum Bridge that links Deira and Bur Dubai, is progressing as per schedule and will be complete by April 2006.
The modifications include altering the free turn exit that links Baniyas Road and Umm Hurrair Road through Al Maktoum Bridge, allowing vehicles to smoothly reach Street number 17 (inside road in Riggat Al Buteen) and Al Maktoum Road. An additional lane will be added to Al Maktoum Road leading to Al Maktoum Bridge
Among the other modifications undertaken by the authority, is to increase the number of lanes on Al Maktoum Bridge leading to Bur Dubai.
"These changes on Al Maktoum Bridge will result in extending the intersection area near the bridge, while avoiding bottlenecks and easing traffic flow," said Maitha Bin Adi, Director of Roads Department at the Roads and Transport Authority.
Dubai is witnessing massive growth and development in all sectors, and through its committed efforts to provide the best transport infrastructure, the RTA is complementing this growth and expansion in the emirate.
