Lucent Technologies names Talmage Bursh as the new president for its Middle East and Africa business

Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced that Talmage Bursh has been appointed as the Middle East and Africa operations (MEA) president.

In his role as president, Bursh is responsible for leading Lucent's MEA sales and services operations and will provide leadership to the wider business in the region. He replaces Ray Adams who has been leading the region for the past two years.

A graduate from Stanford University, Bursh began his career at Lucent Technologies in 1979. Prior to his current appointment, he was a senior executive in Lucent Worldwide Services and also performed as technical support services vice-president, where he provided maintenance and technical support for all of Lucent's products in the North America, and Carribean and Latin America regions.

"The Middle East and Africa is an area that is growing and represents a tremendous opportunity for Lucent," Bursh said.

"I look forward to working with the service providers in this region to build the kinds of communications infrastructure that will help the economies of the countries in this region grow as they strive to improve the lives of people throughout the regions."
