In its 63rd Regular Session, GOIC board calls for drawing a future map for gulf industries

GOIC board conducted its 63rd Regular Session, yesterday in GOIC premises in Doha.

His Excellency Mr. Nader Khalil Al Moayyed, the head of the board for the current session, opened the meeting by welcoming their Excellencies GOIC board members; and congratulating His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Khalil Al Mutawa, GOIC Secretary General, for winning the 3rd Middle East CEO of the Year Award in the industrial field.

In his speech, Mr. Al Moayyed assured that GOIC progression has been marked with a new attribute during the last year, which was characterized by a tendency towards knowledge and motivation to reach advanced levels in the consultancy business field. This was reflected in the scientific implementations of the new strategy adopted by GOIC, noting that its positive results have started to come into sight.

"It is now fundamental that achieving great ambitions and reaching advanced goals require efficiency and distinctiveness, so as to be able to have a sound insight of future and monitoring progresses, specially that the global economic field never settle upon the highly rapid changes occurring every day; and on its part, industry is not far behind those advancements, on the contrary it is located in the nearby affected circle; this as such urges us to pursue and make use of those changes," H.E. reported.

Al Moayyed has also assured that GCC member states need to pay more attention to the fields of planning, financing, human resources, amongst others. On its turn, GOIC, being a distinctive house of expertise in the industrial consultancy field, is highly responsible at this stage; and thus has to contribute in drawing the future map of the Gulf industry which help in taking key industrial decisions to develop this sector; specially that Gulf industry constitute a strategic option for the region, taking into consideration the instability of the global Oil market and the serious demand for finding energy alternatives in the huge industrial countries.

In addition, Al Moayyed talked about the need for legislations as well as new, more effective mechanisms to achieve the industrial development, as endorsed in the Unified Gulf Industrial Agreement to enter a competition based on knowledge and quality.

On his part, GOIC's Secretary General welcomed the call for drawing an industrial future map for GCC, assuring, in the meantime, its importance as it highly contributes to the promotion and development of the Gulf industries.

Dr. AL Mutawa also said that GOIC is in the process of preparing a map for the knowledge-based industries and it is currently studying the strategic traits of GCC industry, so that Gulf industry occupies its position amongst the geographical groupings.

Also, His Excellency commended GOIC board members and its administrative and technical systems, saying that the acquirements and prizes given for GOIC have been a natural result of the attention of the board members and the efforts that have never been spared by the staff members.

It is worth mentioning that the board members discussed a number of subjects stated in the meeting agenda covering renewing the appointment of H.E. Dr. Lulwa Al Misned, Assistant Secretary General for Industrial Research & Investment Promotion, for additional four years; developing the informational, administrative and consultancy systems of GOIC; developing its building so as to suite the modern reconstruction tendencies in the State of Qatar; in addition to the new identity GOIC is currently developing in accordance with the new strategy approved by the board before two years.
