"Partnering with Dubai Women's College provides a remarkable opportunity for these students to learn more about the banking and finance industry," said David Proctor, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank UAE. "This field excursion for fifteen of Dubai Women's College's brightest and most promising students will go a long way toward developing Emirati talent in the UAE and give them invaluable insight into the world of banking."

The students chosen had scored the highest Grade Point Averages in the banking & finance major at the university college.

"Our students are ready to explore, test the market and challenge themselves with the real world of banking," said Professor Philip Brear, Head of the Department of Dubai Women's College. "While their seven day journey will include the spectacle and sights of the cosmopolitan global capital, they will be spending most of their time immersed in the excitement that is 'The City'."

The highlight will be a full-day visit to Standard Chartered's Head Office at Aldermanbury Square in London. There, the students will interact with the Bank's senior staff, participate in workshops, examine and reflect on case studies and live and breathe what it takes to be a world class banker.

''Standard Chartered is working to develop some of the UAE's most comprehensive training schemes and places significant value in professional training for recruits along with existing staff members," added Proctor.

This work experience activity supports Standard Chartered's Al Mawarid Induction Programme for UAE Nationals. The tailored programme - developed with the Emirates Institute of Banking & Finance in Sharjah - provides trainees with the fundamental principles of banking operations'.
