Going behind the scenes at the construction sites of Ski Dubai and The Palm Islands, the cameras capture the human effort involved in building the record-breaking structures and chronicle the obstacles, hazards and moments of success met by all those involved in the mega-projects.

BUILDING DUBAI STORIES is set to premiere on Wednesday 19th April at 23:00 KSA (00:00 UAE) with episode repeats on Thursday 20th April at 13:50 KSA (14:50 UAE) on the Discovery Channel available exclusively on the Showtime Network in the Middle East.

"Dubai is breaking all-time records and its constructions have become international icons," said Maurizio Vitale, vice president on-air operations at Discovery Networks Europe. "These programmes signify our commitment to the Arab region and we are very proud to be pioneers in broadcasting the 'behind the scenes' story of what the city has achieved to date".

The evening kicks off with MEGA BUILDERS: FANTASY ISLANDS, which illustrates the technology snags, financial pressure, tight deadlines and natural hindrances faced by the team as they create the 21st century wonder - the world's largest man-made islands, the Palm Islands.

With enough rocks to circle the globe three times and 35,000 tonnes on the move everyday, even the simple task of keeping inventory is a huge challenge in this unprecedented project.

The cameras follow the mega builders and record the surprises and dilemmas they faced when they realized that desert sand cannot be used for ocean water structures.

The evening continues with the premiere of KINGS OF CONSTRUCTION, DUBAI, THE SKI RESORT IN THE DESERT which takes viewers through the building of the largest man-made ski dome in the heat of the Arabian Gulf with deadlines looming and millions of dollars at stake.

The series records the gruesome tasks the project managers, engineers, contractors and construction workers faced to cover 22,500 square meters of desert sand with snow all year round.

As the tension escalates and heated arguments break between the contractors and engineers alike to lift the 3,000 ton ski slope 60 meters into the air, a sand-storm breaks and the computer system crashes.

The Discovery Channel cameras capture the men at work and records their sweat, frustrations and celebrations as they manage to build a Ski Dome in the most unlikely place in the world.

BUILDING DUBAI STORIES is set to premiere on Wednesday 19th April at 23:00 KSA (00:00 UAE) and the episodes will repeat on Thursday 20th April at 13:50 KSA (14:50 UAE) on the Discovery Channel available exclusively on the Showtime Network in the Middle East.
