Imation unveils printable optical media with improved surface technology

  • PRESS RELEASE

Imation, a leading supplier of removable data storage media, has today announced its new advanced bright white surface inkjet printable media, to meet the increasing consumer demand for multiple custom-printed CDs and DVDs.

The new discs boast an improved 10 per cent whiter surface, to create enhanced colour contrast and a professional level of print quality. The reflector layer has been expanded to create a uniform printing surface in the hub area and a new design and manufacturing process will help prevent stacked discs from sticking together, resulting in fewer system and workflow interruptions.

"Printing graphics directly to Imation printable optical media creates professional-looking CDs and DVDs, saving time and money over traditional paper labelling," said Riyaz Abdulla, Sales and Marketing Manager for Middle East and East Africa at Imation. "This eliminates peeling paper labels which reduces the likelihood of drive and player error."

When used with an inkjet duplicator or printer, Imation printable optical media discs produce multiple custom-printed CDs and DVDs for promotional material, catalogues, audio/visual productions, home movies, wedding albums, special events, model portfolios, training manuals and student or faculty files. The new portfolio includes DVD+/- R 8 x White Inkjet 30 pack spindle, DVD+/-R 8x 10 pack slim line, CD-R 10 pack and 10 pack slim line, plus 50 pack spindle.
