International Business Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government's International Trade arm, has taken a stand at the show to give smaller Welsh companies the opportunity to develop international contacts and grow their exporting businesses.

Lee Jennings, International Business Wales' Middle East vice president, said: "The combination of quality and reliability means that Welsh companies are doing incredibly well in the Middle East. Welsh exports to the UAE region have increased from £34 million in 2003, £69 million in 2004 and to over £76 million in the first six months of 2005. This dramatic increase follows the establishment of a dedicated Welsh office in Dubai in 2004 established by International Business Wales.

"Through International Business Wales' Export Assist Programme, we can help businesses attend show like The Fabulous Four to build international contacts and develop export opportunities."

A diverse range of businesses will be represented on International Business Wales' stand, highlighting the diversity of the country's economy and skills-base. These include:

White Dove Ltd

White Dove Limited will be using the exhibition to showcase its high quality, classic and dove cotes and chicken coops.

Based in Crumlin, Gwent, founder and managing director Lee Phillips, said: "I got into the business by accident really. I was doing up my front garden and wanted to include a dove cote but when I realised how expensive they were I built one myself. It escalated from there, first a friend asked me to build one, then a friend of a friend. At the time I was working for Wales Water, but I set up White Dove Limited about two and a half years ago."

Today White Dove has six members of staff and sells its products through its website as well as in garden centres and pets shops across Wales and the South West of England.

"We have exported to France and Holland in the past, but these have only individual products that have been ordered through the website and this makes the products quite expensive. I am looking forward to attending the Fabulous Four show as I understand there is a strong interest in our type of product in the UAE region", continued Lee.

"I am hoping to use the show to make contact with potential distributors in the region."

Fishgen Ltd

Fishgen Ltd. was established in 1996 and is based at the University of Wales Swansea (UWS). It develops and promotes high performing fish for aquaculture production and has a number of fast growing, all-male tilapia strains available worldwide.

The company aims to commercialise and promote products developed under research programmes on genetic improvement of fish species for aquaculture worldwide.

Fishgen brings to the industry the results of more than 20 years of active research in fish genetics, particularly with the freshwater tropical fish, the tilapia.

At present Fishgen's main product is "supermale" broodstock for the production of monosex male tilapia known as Genetically Male Tilapia (GMT(r)).

Fishgen sells directly from its hatchery in Wales and through strategically located agents. The company is in the process of establishing a worldwide network of agents able to supply its products into all the major tilapia producing regions. At present GMT(r) has been or is being grown in 35 different countries and Fishgen has agencies producing GMT(r) in several locations throughout the world.

Equipment Supply Services (ESS)

Equipment Supply Services (ESS) is pioneering a new approach to waste recycling in the Middle East with the introduction of cutting edge equipment.

Agriculture, horticulture, landscaping and infrastructure developments produce large quantities of waste, a large proportion of which is organic. This waste has always been regarded as inconvenient, but ESS can now transform it into a valuable revenue provider.

The company, based near Neath in South Wales, sources and provides its clients with equipment from the world's leading manufacturers. It also provides a tailored package for clients which includes complete on site support for equipment assembly, installation and commissioning and project operational advice and management.

Waste material can be turned into a variety of products for re-utilisation on the client's project or for re-sale to local consumer markets. Equipment can be easily transported to the client's site, saving them time and money as the need for bulk waste removal and disposal is eliminated.

Products which can be recycled from typical waste materials include:

· Mulches for soil erosion prevention
· Coloured mulches for decorative purposes
· Organic composted soil improver
· Potting compost
· Animal bedding
· Raw material for fibre board production
· Fire wood briquettes

Sean Reilly, Equipment Supply Services managing director, said: "International Business Wales has been absolutely key to developing our markets abroad. Having established the initial market for our waste recycling equipment, the Fabulous Four enables us to move forward.

"We will be exhibiting Bandit Industries' huge Bandit Beast 2680 horizontal waste grinder for the very first time at the Fabulous Four. It will stand at the front of the exhibition before being handed over to the client."

ESS will also be launching products from two French companies at the show. The Caruelle crop sprayer and Nicolas orchard / tree sprayer represent the most comprehensive and high performance crop application product ranges available on the worldwide market.
