The ranking focused on those IT managers who have demonstrated keen business acumen and an ability to view IT as a strategic asset to their organisation.

At RTA, Al Madani is responsible for establishing a robust IT infrastructure, in addition to ensuring the smooth transfer of more than 95 applications from Dubai Municipality and Dubai Police to the RTA, following the establishment of RTA as a separate entity. These applications are considered as critical IT applications to manage the daily work of various departments in the RTA.

Abdulla Al Madani said, 'Being voted as one of the top ten IT managers is indeed a great honour for me. Today, information technology has become an integral part of most organisations in the Middle East, and it is the responsibility of the IT manager and his team to ensure that the IT system fully complements the overall goals of the organisation. IT managers need to be forward-thinking in their approach to keep pace with the fast-changing business environment.'

'The establishment of the RTA as a separate entity calls for a major revamping and development of the IT services. The IT team is committed to set up an integrated e-friendly service for the RTA which will benefit commuters all across Dubai. Various online services like parking fines enquiry and payment service will be migrated from Dubai Municipality and Dubai Police,' he added.

Al Madani is also responsible for the development of the RTA website which will provide commuters and users updated information 24x7 on various services and developments in the RTA.

In his previous role in Dubai Municipality, Al Madani oversaw the growth of Dubai's e-government infrastructure and was tasked with keeping it running efficiently. Al Madani and his team had introduced a service-oriented architecture (SOA) initiative in 2005 to improve the speed and reliability of the services.
