A delegation from ESCAWA visits GOIC

A delegation from the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) headed by Dr. Abdulilah Dewachi, the Regional Advisor for Communications and Computer Networking in ESCAWA, visited Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) between April, 3 to 5.
Lines of work and areas of cooperation between GOIC and ESCAWA were discussed including coordination between the two parties in utilizing the economic data available in GOIC and replicating it with ESCWA Statistical Information System (ESIS); an advanced program designed to help decision makers and researchers to set future visions for the economies of their countries.
Dr. Dewachi during the meeting said that GOIC enjoys a position which reinforces its capabilities in playing a significant role in optimizing the implementation of ESIS in GCC member states. He also said that the linkage as well as cooperation with GOIC in promoting the ESIS is considered time and effort saving as it represents six Gulf countries; as working with regional and economic groupings is the best approach in implementing such programs.
Proceeding from the same merit, Dr. Al Dewaji invited GOIC to participate in ESCAWA's Information and Communication Technology program (ICT).
H.E. Mr. Ahmed Hassan Dhaif, Assistant Secretary General for Information Technology, assured the importance of industrial indicators program and GOIC's keenness not only to utilize it inside, but also support its launching in GCC member states at all levels -logistic, human, information, and others.
Mr. Dhaif also ensured the importance of creating awareness on this program in the Gulf as it is new in the region, and GOIC, in its turn, can play a vital role in this concern by making use of its accumulative expertise. Also, Mr. Dhaif invited ESCAWA to attend the coordination meetings which GOIC annually conducts for the statistical centers in GCC member states.
Furthermore, it was agreed, during the meeting, on a number of programs and activities amongst was sending a delegation from GOIC economists and statisticians to train them on ESIS, it was also agreed to organize a workshop on the program to identify the economic indicators, then gathering and modeling them in the form of indices.
