Symantec appoints John Brigden as new Europe, Middle East, and Africa Senior Vice President

In this role Brigden will lead all sales, operations, and business development across the EMEA region. Brigden will succeed Lindsey Armstrong, who will leave following a short transition period.

Most recently Brigden served as senior vice president and general counsel for Symantec. He joined Symantec through its merger with VERITAS Software in July 2005. At VERITAS, Brigden was senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary, responsible for all legal matters, including sales and services transactions, compliance and corporate governance, intellectual property, strategic partnerships, litigation, and M&A.

Prior to VERITAS, Brigden held a number of sales, legal, and general management positions at emerging and large enterprises, including Shutterfly, Inc., an online digital photo service, and Silicon Graphics, Inc., a leader in high performance computing.

His technical background includes engineering positions at Rockwell International and General Motors Corporation. He began his legal career in private practice focusing on complex licensing transactions, anti-trust, and intellectual property litigation.

Brigden holds a J.D. degree with honors from Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering with honors from Purdue University.

Brigden will be based in Green Park, UK.
