RAK Free Trade Zone to build 400 warehouses

The expansion plan will mainly be carried at the zone's Industrial Site in Khor Khowair, north of Ras Al Khaimah and the Technological Site, south of the emirate.

Oussama El Omari, (RAKFTZ) Director General said, "The construction of the warehouses will be completed in four month. New warehouses will be ideal for companies of different industrial purposes including the light industries like the electronic industries, and logistic services, and other industries like the amour vehicles."

El Omari stressed that the close location of the Industrial Site to Saqr Port is yet another advantage for the warehouses. "Companies will have the chance to move their stuff to and from the port in no time," he said. He explained that the new warehouses will be constructed on 95,000 square meters at the two sites, adding that each warehouse will be constructed on 200-400 square meters.

"The new warehouses will be completely different size-wise from those constructed last year, where the total size of each of the warehouses the (RAKFTZ) constructed earlier was 150-200 square meters. The smaller warehouses were constructed to meet the urgent needs of the companies registered at the (RAKFTZ) then,' he said.

El Omari said the (RAKFTZ) warehouses will be provided with all the necessary services including power, water, drainage, light systems, and parking lots. "The outstanding services provided by the (RAKFTZ) usually give the registered companies the chance to achieve better success and prosperity in their business."

"(RAKFTZ) has also completed advanced infrastructure for one million square meters of land ready to be rented for registered industrial companies to enable them set up their projects," said El Omari. He added that this spacious plot of land divided into smaller plots of different sizes has proved to be in a big demand of the companies which excessively applied to rent.

He said the (RAKFTZ) is currently constructing residential units at the Industrial Park and the Technological Park for the employees of the registered companies. He added that the residential units will be constructed on 24,000 square meters and will be provided with all the necessary entertainment facilities to spare them the burden of housing and enable them to become more focused at work.

"The (RAKFTZ) expansion projects have been implemented to meet the increasing demand for services the (RAKFTZ) provides following the on-the-ground tremendous growth the (RAKFTZ) has lately achieved in the number of the registered companies. Those projects basically aim at attracting even more international industrial companies to register with (RAKFTZ)," he added.
