"These results reflect Dubai's spectacular growth and prove that it is emerging as a global hub to rival the celebrated metropolises of the Americas, Europe and Asia."
Ulrich Buck, Regional Director for Rolls-Royce Middle East said the company's Middle East importers had delivered exceptional results in 2005.
"Thanks to the efforts of all of the region's Rolls-Royce dealers, and in particular AGMC, the Middle East was the second most important market for Rolls-Royce in 2005, with the highest sales for 25 years."
AGMC, was inaugurated in Sharjah in 1976. In the 30 years since its inception the company has witnessed extraordinary growth, paralleling the growth of Dubai. As Dubai emerges as a global player so too has AGMC. AGMC began selling Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in 2003 when the UK based motor manufacturer was acquired by BMW Group..
Mohammed El-Arishy, Business Development Manager, AGMC said: "We are privileged to represent the best Rolls-Royce motor car ever built. The Phantom has established itself as the most desirable super-luxury vehicle in Dubai. We are honoured to be in the same league as the leading cities of the world."
A strong sales year in 2005 worldwide confirmed the position of the Rolls-Royce Phantom as the world's leading super-luxury car. Its international appeal has attracted buyers from more than 40 countries in the last 12 months, including a number of emerging markets. In total, 796 cars were retailed, an increase over 2004 and a 15 year high for Rolls-Royce.
The new extended wheelbase Phantom is the second model to be built at the company's world headquarters at Goodwood, England. The first was the standard Phantom. They will be joined by a third model - the new convertible.
The extended wheelbase Phantom offers additional interior space for the rear occupants, while maintaining the elegant exterior looks of the standard length Phantom and its first class driving performance. An extra 250mm (10 inches) has been added to the standard Phantom, behind the B-pillar, to create a car with an even more generously proportioned rear passenger compartment. The extra space lends itself perfectly to the addition of bespoke features - the specialist items crafted specifically for individual customers.
