Etisalat board approves corporate restructuring

The Board of Directors of Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat- held a meeting at the Corporation's head office in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, board members went through studies and suggestions put forward by consultants with regard to the restructuring of the Corporation. These were designed to meet current and future requirements and boost the performance of the Corporation, and follow in the Corporation's success in transforming from a national to an international telecom operator with operations and investments in 13 different markets across Asia and Africa.

The decisions taken by the Board include the following:

1- Separate the responsibilities of the office of CEO from that of the Chairman

2- Mohammed Hassan Omran will now be Chairman and Managing Director

3- Mohammed Al Qamzi is now the Chief Executive Officer

4- Ahmed Abdulkarim Julfar is Chief Operating Officer
