Patrick Mulligan, Area Director for Motorola´s Mobile Devices Business, handed over the prestigious award to Neal Barros, General Manager, Globalnet, at an awards ceremony in Prague, which was attended by all regional distributors from MENA, Turkey and Pakistan.
"Motorola has achieved phenomenal growth in the UAE in the last nine years and we owe a lot of this success to the dedicated and focused team at Globalnet. We anticipate an unprecedented spike in demand for mobile phones here in the UAE in 2006, and with Globalnet's support, Motorola is ideally positioned to capitalize on this explosion,"said Mulligan.
Known for its innovative, competitive services and well-trained staff, Globalnet has been Motorola's exclusive UAE distributor since 1997, helping it become one of the top three mobile phone brands in the country with more than 100 percent growth in sales value.
"Motorola understands the incredibly diverse tastes in the region and their ability to cater to them is what sets them apart from other handset manufacturers. We are honoured to be the face of this world-class brand and provide end-users in the UAE easy access to such top-notch products," said Neal Barros of Globalnet. "To receive an award of this calibre for our efforts is a great boost for the team."
In the past, Globalnet has also received Motorola's 'Highest Sales Award' for 2000 and 2002, the 'Business Development Award' for 2002 and the Middle East and North Africa 'Distributor of the year award' for highest growth in sales in 2004.
"Motorola has already introduced a number of handsets into UAE market since the start of 2006, including the technologically-advanced RAZR V3i, the well-defined PEBL U6 and the ultra-slim SLVR L7. With such a comprehensive portfolio of handsets, Motorola is poised to go straight to the top and Globalnet remains committed to ensuring that this journey is smooth," concluded Barros.
