DHCC forms strategic partnership with Ministry of Health

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) and the UAE Ministry of Health (MOH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to enhance the cooperation between the two organizations in order to collaborate on the latest medical advances, develop and promote the healthcare workforce and provide improved healthcare services in the UAE.
According to the agreement, both parties will work to develop an integrated electronic healthcare system in addition to developing a database of electronic health records through joint consulting services provided by DHCC and the Harvard Medical School Dubai Center. DHCC and MOH will also collaborate on other field including further developing health education, continuing medical education, initiating fellowship programs and training for physicians.
Based on the MoU signed, both sides will coordinate in eight fields such as establishing advanced center for medical research, reevaluating the healthcare regulations in the country, and facilitating the use of modern technologies in current healthcare establishments. Both organizations will also cooperate in developing therapeutic treatments, and in organizing forums and medical exhibitions that will attract leading healthcare professionals.
His Excellency Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, the UAE Minister of Health stated: "The strategy of the Ministry of Health is to concentrate on developing a high level of medical services in the UAE through various directives. One of our most important aims is to enhance the capability of our healthcare workforce by offering various educational initiatives, training programs, and opportunities for exchanging expertise with leading professionals in order to fulfill the needs of our medical staff."
He further added: "Signing this agreement is in line with our strategy as DHCC is now one of the most important medical hubs, locally and regionally. It is successfully attracting leading international medical establishments and institutes, and is striving to develop qualifies professionals through its cooperation with leading organizations such as the Harvard Medical School."
The Minister also assured that: "This agreement will actively contribute in facilitating the process of developing the healthcare sector in the UAE by depending on the expertise of professionals at MOH and DHCC. This cooperation will by useful for not only the UAE but for the region as a whole."
Saeed Muntafiq, CEO of Tatweer commented: "The signing of this agreement if a natural progression of the strong relationship between the DHCC and the MOH, a relationship which has been developing since the formation of Healthcare City."
He added: "Our aim at DHCC is in line with the goals of MOH, which are to support and to develop the medical sector in the UAE. This signing reflects the vision and strategy of DHCC in offering state of the art healthcare services in the region."
He further clarified: "This step is in line with Healthcare City's efforts to sign strategic partnerships locally, regionally and internationally, and to develop DHCC into a regional hub for medical education, and an international hub for healthcare services."
He points out that the "importance of such an initiative is relevant to not only to the medical sector, but also for other sectors. Coordination among organizations in the UAE is good for the overall development of the country."
