  • PRESS RELEASE

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai today (Wednesday, April 12, 2006), officially announced the launch of its portal www.rta.ae.

The bilingual website (English and Arabic) has been launched in line with the newly launched corporate identity and organizational structure of RTA. The banner of the website signifies the comprehensive and integrated transport system that the RTA is committed to achieve, and also complements its vision of providing safe and smooth transport for all.

The user-friendly portal is being developed in phases. The first phase will focus on the relevance of the organization, its role, responsibilities and structure. The content will feature updated news and developments in the organization, in addition to all the major activities and events.

Besides this, the progress on various prominent strategic projects undertaken by the RTA will be displayed on the website to keep people updated. Information on the Dubai Metro project, public transport information like the bus routes and other directory services will be available on the portal in the second phase.

"The portal is developed as bilingual, (English and Arabic) as a communication channel, thus enabling people to get the latest developments on the strategic projects undertaken by the RTA in the Emirate to provide safe and smooth transport for all.

"This website has been developed in lines with the newly launched corporate logo and organizational structure which has been formed under the guidance of H.E Mattar Al Tayer, the Chairman of the Board and Director of the Roads and Transport Authority," said Dr.Aysha Al Busmait, the Executive Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications, RTA.

"The launch of RTA's website will prove beneficial to majority of Dubai's population and also to the large number of tourists, as it will provide invaluable information on public transport, roads and traffic conditions in Dubai," said Ahmed Bahrozyan, Assistant Director of IT Department, RTA. "The well-conceived layout of the website ensures easy navigation between sections and the design perfectly complements RTA's new corporate identity."

"Over the coming months we plan to make this website a full-fledged portal by providing new features such as 'login capabilities', 'search engine', 'personalization' and various e-services," he added.

The portal will also offer users the opportunity to channel their feedback in the form of complaints, questions and suggestions, which will be addressed by the concerned departments.

"RTA has been committed to high quality customer service, which is one of the reasons we have partnered with Etisalat to set up an advanced call center that will provide 24/7 service to customers. Our website will serve as an additional channel of communication for our customers, besides being a source for important information related to traffic and transport in Dubai," added Dr.Aysha

The RTA recently launched its new corporate identity and organisational structure to mark its existence as a leading government entity that works towards the development of an integrated transport network for Dubai.
