Gold experts recall 1980 spike

Gold prices spiked to $850 an ounce in 1980 when the USSR invaded Afghanistan, and independent experts from GFMS told AFP that in the right circumstances this price could be exceeded over the next two years. Gold has risen alongside oil this week on speculation about a showdown between the US and Iran.
