The Show, which witnessed a grand opening on April 10, attracted over 6,800 visitors on the first day itself. By the end of the event's second day, the visitor numbers had swelled up to 14,097.

A majority of the visitors who had so far visited the show came from the GCC region. Among the GCC countries, the UAE and Saudi Arabia had the maximum number of visitors. However, a considerable number of visitors also came from India, China, Pakistan, Iran, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

The number of visitors to the Show is expected to go up substantially during the weekend. The last edition of the Show had attracted over 34,000 visitors.

For the current Show, going by the massive turnout on the first two days, the total number of visitors should far exceed that of the previous edition.

A major crowd puller this edition is the national pavilions from Hong Kong and Singapore. For both the two countries, this is their largest-ever collective participation in the region. The Hong Kong and Singapore pavilions are hosting 62 and 12 jewellery companies respectively. Hong Kong jewellers are in fact utilizing the event as platform for exhibiting the collection that they had displayed at the recently held Basel Show.

Besides Hong Kong and Singapore, the pavilions from India and Italy too are turning out to be highly popular.

Other than national pavilions, individual participants from Bahrain, Hong Kong, China, India, Italy, Jordan, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, and the UAE, also reported doing brisk business during the first two days of the show.

The MidEast Watch and Jewellery show, in its twentieth edition now, is the first in the region to display the 2006 Spring Collection. A total of 300 leading jewellers are showcasing a combination of classic and contemporary gold and diamond jewellery including fashion jewellery, precious stones, pearl sets, crystals, watches, timepieces, jewellery displays, and different kinds of tools used in the trade.

The MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show is a biannual event and is held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It is organized by Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

The show is open for general public on April 13 and 14 from 4 pm to 10 pm. It will be open exclusively for ladies on April 13 between 10 am and 4 pm.
