Etisalat organizes 'Health Week' in West Coast region

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation - Etisalat- has organized 'Health Week' for its West Coast region employees beginning Saturday, 15th April 2006.

This event is in collaboration with the Health, Safety and Environment department in Etisalat and the Medical Prevention Department in the Ministry of Health, the Department of Health and Medical Services, Health Education Section of Dubai Government, Dubai Courts, Primary Health Care Center, American Hospital in Dubai, Zulekha Hospital in Sharjah, ENOC, and the Women's Higher Colleges Of Technology participating through its Health Education Department.

The five-day event aims to increase the employees' awareness of general health issues, prevention and cure. It also tackles a number of other issues such as unhealthy eating habits and lifestyles that may cause health complications, and the best ways to avoid them. The programme highlights and educates the employees about healthy habits they can cultivate.

The Health Week programmes include a number of presentations, workshops and seminars conducted by specialists from physical, psychological and social organisations. It also provides free medical tests for employees and provides advice to deal with early signs of any potential complications.

Ali Mohammed Al Sharid, General Manager of Etisalat West Coast Region, said: "Etisalat has always shown concern towards its employees not only at the professional level, but also at the personal level. We all belong to one family and we believe in caring for one another."

"Good health is the foundation for success in all aspects. Etisalat not only provides the best services for its customers, but is also committed towards spreading health awareness within the community", he added.

Ahmed Bin Ali, Manager Corporate Communications, Etisalat said: "Organizing this event reflects the Corporation's commitment towards its employees and their welfare. Etisalat has conducted a number of programmes for employees and the society that have focused on Breast Cancer and Thallasemia, and has also participated in general awareness campaigns like Civil Defense Day, Gulf Traffic Week, Anti-Smoking Campaign, Fire Drill Training Programmes and many other activities."

Etisalat has proven to be a pioneer in supporting its human resources by organising professional training and development programmes and health-related events. This commitment reflects its continuous effort to develop its human capital as the base for its success and development, and enable the Corporation to provide the best services.
