Retail Middle East Exhibition to feature tailor made technology and solutions

The second edition of the Retail Middle East Exhibition (RME), to be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from April 17 - 19, 2006, will bring together some of the world's best known retailers and analysts on a single platform.

The Retail IT seminar and the Retail Professional's Conference, scheduled on April 17 and 18 respectively on the sidelines of the exhibition, will offer unparalleled levels of information, rich insight in to the future of the Middle East retail industry, and hard-hitting solutions to drive up sales.

Speakers at the events will include global retailers, analysts on demographic trends, retail technology consultants, marketing and sales professionals, IT professionals, and professionals engaged in strategy formulation and implementation of retail set ups among others.

Among the speakers who will address the Retail IT seminar are Mr. Graham Newland, Senior Director, Oracle Retail, EMEA - United Kingdom, Mr. Soma Sekhar, Director, TrackIT Solutions, Mr. Ahmed El-Ridi, General Manager,
UAE-based Specialized Software Services, Mr. Rajkumar Jagasia, Executive Director of ETP International Pte. Ltd, Singapore, and Mr. Ziad Jarrar, Head Of Business Relations Spot Media.

Mr. Newland, in his presentation, will discuss the key business issues facing retailers today, the 5 factors that come to represent great retailers, and the 4 strategic imperatives that help companies transform their economics and increase their performance. The presentation will conclude with how Oracle's solutions meet these requirements and deliver value at a high level.

Mr. Sekhar will utilize the seminar to outline the RFID technology and complimentary technologies in real time asset visibility solutions.

Mr. El-Ridi will focus on the evolution of static signage into digital signage, the elements of success of a Dynamic Digital Signage Network in a retail Environment, examples of Digital Signage Networks in UAE, feed back from consumers as well as retailers who adopted the Dynamic Digital Signage from around the world as well as examples for interesting Dynamic Signage solutions.

Mr. Jagasia will provide an overview at the seminar on how retailers can use CRM and integrated demand and supply chain management with smart merchandise planning, leading to growth in business, efficient and effective management of inventory and retention of customers.

Lastly, Mr. Ziad Jarrar, Head Of Business Relations Spot Media, will define digital signage & cover examples of how to make digital networks work.

The speaker's line up of the Retail Professional's Conference is equally impressive with the who's who in the global retail industry featuring in the list.

Presenters at the Conference will include Euroshop and EHI President Dr. Prof. Bernd Hallier, UK-based retail expert Mr. Simon Thomson, UK-based GDR Creative Intelligence Managing Director Ms. Kate Ancketil, Austria-based leading retail author, visiting Harvard professor, dramatist and psychologist Dr. Christian Mikunda, and Director of the Singapore-based Centre for Innovation and Enterprise Dr Lynda Wee.

Dr. Prof. Hallier, an international retailing expert will shed light on "Global Retail Trends, Best Practices and Solutions".

Dr. Mikunda will focus on "Ways to improve sales by Linking the desire for entertainment with emotion and putting the customer in the right mood is the key to attracting sales".

Ms. Ancketil will highlight "Major retail trends identified along with illustrations and visuals of case studies of stores, technology, and packaging among others followed by setting the case studies within global themes".

Dr. Wee from Singapore, author of several well-known books on retailing, visiting Stanford professor and the recipient of many prestigious awards including one from the Prime Minister's Office (Singapore) will advise delegates on "Ways for Retailers to get their customers' attention, sustain it, grow it and profit from it".

Mr. Simon Thomson will update the retail industry professionals on the "Latest Developments in the Middle East Region".

The Retail Middle East Exhibition, the region's most eminent retail trade event, will showcase retail concepts, shop fitting and store equipment, visual merchandising, signages, POP, store design, retail technology and equipment, logistics and security systems. The event is being organsied by Expo Centre Sharjah in association with European Retail Institute (EHI) and Point-Of-Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

Among the major participants at this year's Retail Middle East Exhibition are Germany's Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik GMBH, Austria's UMDASCH, UAE-based Tensator, Italy's MGM Store Solutions, Singapore's ETP International, UAE-based EMPA Middle East, Eden Industries and Oracle from UK, USA-based Curves for women, and France's Caddie.
