AUST Network organizes 5th International Symposium

In four sequential sessions, sixteen veteran architects presented their research papers on Sustainable Housing Development & Architecture at Ajman University of Science and Technology's 5th International Symposium, organized by the Faculty of Architecture.

The symposium was attended by a large number of architects, specialists, and academics from various institutions in the UAE and abroad.

The main topic of discussion revolved around housing issues and urban planning. Dr Mike Jenkiz, Dean of the Architecture Faculty at Oxford Prox in Britain, spoke about the sustainability of urban development. Dr Amir Mustafa of the American University in Sharjah, spoke of his experiences with housing issues in the UAE. Dr Gazella Lohaleen from Britain University in Dubai, touched upon the issue of public housing in hot and dry regions. Dr Tareq Abdul Salam of Aust Network and Dr Saad Al Fawzan spoke of open interior areas and the Prince Salman Housing Project.

Dr Al Amin Mahjoubi of Britain's Bristol University and Dr Saif Khaiatti opened the second session. Dr Kevin Michael of the American University of Sharjah, Dr Faisal Humaid of AUST Network and Harbur Sieth of AUST Network also delivered their papers.

The third session started off with Dr Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Works, then Dr Mufeed Al Samaraie of Sharhah University and Ali Tailab of AUST Network. Architect Maha Al Zubaidi of AUST Network and Hala Al Madfai of the Ametrican University in Dubai also delivered their papers.

In the last session of the day, Dr Mashari Al Nuaimi of King Faisal University in Riyad, Dr Nabeel Shanaf of the American University, Mohammed Mahmoud of Zayed Housing Project, Bou Zaid Budiaf, and Michael Shwarz participated in the symposium as well.
