Dubai is increasingly becoming a favourite destination among the Chinese with the year 2005 showing a record increase of 47 per cent in the number of Chinese hotel guests to Dubai, when compared to 2004.
In 2005, the total number of Chinese hotel guests stood at 47,501.
This is the second year of DTCM's participation at the third edition of the World Travel Fair. The international travel exhibition meets the needs of the emerging Chinese outbound travel market by featuring product and destination displays from airlines, chambers of commerce, tourists spots, consulates, cruiseliners, embassies, hotels etc.
The Dubai stand at the fair measured 80 sq metres and was shared by 16 co-participants in the public and the private sector.
Mr. Salah Al Geziry, DTCM Deputy Manager, Overseas Promotions said:
"China is a very important market for us, both in terms of trade as well as tourism. There has been a significant increase in the number of Chinese tourists to Dubai in 2005 and we are looking at strengthening our presence in the Chinese market."
In 2004, the World Travel Fair attracted 50,012 visitors and 451 exhibitors from 40 countries while in 2005 the total number of visitors stood at 48,157 with 331 exhibitors from 47 countries.
