The Paris-Sorbonne University—Abu Dhabi is present at this year's ACADEMIA SYRIA 2006 Exhibition on a big stand, to promote the opening of the first French teaching University in the Middle East.

The Paris-Sorbonne University is the only University in France to be specialized in the Humanities and offers a wide range of subjects in arts, languages and social sciences. From a cultural viewpoint and regarding the teaching policy, the new campus will be in keeping with the spirit of the Paris-Sorbonne and its republican tradition: the new institution will be co-educational, and enrollment will be open to all students from inside and outside the UAE, regardless of nationality, gender or religion.
The lessons will be taught by French Professors from the Paris-Sorbonne University who will be assigned to the Abu Dhabi campus. They will teach Archeology & Art History, French & Comparative Literature, Geography & Urban Planning, History, Information & Communication, Languages & Civilizations, Music & Musicology, and Philosophy & Sociology. In addition, an Intensive French Program will be offered to non-fluent speakers. Other majors such as Law, Economics and Political Science are planned to be introduced in the academic year 2007-2008. All of these disciplines represent the basis of Western culture and civilization.
This new University, where teachings will be identical to those of the Paris based University, will deliver the Paris-Sorbonne University Bachelor's (Licence) Degree, which is recognized not only in France but also in the European Union. The University will offer state-of-the-art facilities in spacious and comfortable buildings, including 45 fully equipped class rooms, 3 lecture theatres and a large volume library. Numerous scholarships will be available in a number of categories.
Driven by an impetus for pedagogical innovation, the Paris-Sorbonne University's aim is to adapt the education given to the demands of the 21st century. Because one of the main concerns of the University is the integration of students into the working world, the University's policy is to give them a strong knowledge base to help them adapt easily to the labor market or to do research in social and human sciences. The Paris-Sorbonne Professors are dedicated to give their students the knowledge to help them enhance their critical thinking, communication skills, and international perspective ... to meet their future career goals.
The opening of the Paris-Sorbonne University—Abu Dhabi campus not only establishes French speaking Higher Education in the GCC, meant to attract the elite of the student community, but it also reinforces the international reference of an institution whose authority has been recognized for centuries. A degree from the Paris-Sorbonne University is a world recognized reference, a guarantee of excellence in the field on Human Sciences.
