In the past few years, the What's On Awards has become a battlefield of survival for all the restaurants in the region. Since the number of outstanding dining venues has increased, the voters, who are the customers of these restaurants, are making it a tough competition to win. However the outcome is a great one, because only the best are recognized, making the What's On Award an honorary achievement.

There were 17 main categories, ranging from the preferred restaurants, bars, clubs, sporting event to concert of the past year. The InterContinental Dubai was nominated in 4 categories, taking home two awards, in their victorious winning of Favourite Arabian Restaurant in Dubai for their traditional Persian restaurant 'Shabestan' and 'Fish Market' as the Favourite Seafood Restaurant in Dubai.

For the fifth year winning, 'Fish Market' has had to beat tough competition to win the title of Favourite Seafood restaurant. From the unrivalled view of the Creek to providing the freshest seafood prepared by a team of South East Asian Chefs, the 'Fish Market' defines the ultimate seafood dining experience for customers.

'Shabestan' scoops the Favourite Arabian Restaurant award in Dubai, for the third year, acknowledged by its exotic tastes and hospitality of Persia. Customers can enjoy the large selection of authentic Persian Cuisine in a traditional Arabian atmosphere created by selected music and décor.

The two other nominees from the InterContinental Dubai were in the category for Favourite Far Eastern Restaurant in Dubai, the stylish Chinese restaurant 'The China Club' and traditional Japanese 'Minato' for Favourite Japanese Restaurant in Dubai.

The InterContinental Dubai management would like to thank all the voters for their guest loyalty for the past 5 years, and great appreciation mostly to all the Food and Beverage employees of the hotel for making all of the success of these restaurants happen every year.

The InterContinental Dubai hosts 11 restaurants, 3 bars, a dhow and a cake shop.
