Intel's Teach to the Future receives governmental acknowledgement and support

In the framework of its initiative to develop the education, Intel Corporation received an award of recognition from Egypt's Minister of Education, H.E. Dr.Yousry El Gamal.

The award was given in appreciation of the leading role of Intel® 'Teach to the Future Program' in developing education in Egypt.

H.E. Dr.Yousry El Gamal, Minister of Education, honored Intel and offered a plaque as a token of the Ministry's gratitude for the efforts and support provided by Intel to develop the education process and improve the learning level of the students. This special ceremony was held at the Ministry of Education where some of the teachers and the leaders of education participating in the program were also honored.

His Excellency then underlined the importance of integrating information technology into the classroom, and said, "Enhancing teachers' skills is vital to motivate students to learn and engage in creative and critical thinking. Intel has long recognized this, and over a period of 24 months, Intel saw to provide more than 20,000 teachers with the tools to improve the educating and learning experience."

It is well known that the Intel® Teach to the Future program is a worldwide effort to help both experienced teachers and new teachers before integrating technology into instruction to develop students' higher-order thinking skills and enhance learning. Participating teachers receive extensive instruction and resources to promote effective technology use in the classroom.

Dr. Martina Roth, Intel's Director of Education, for Europe, Middle East and Africa said,

"In the last two years, we have successfully trained 20,000 teachers in Egypt, and by 2010 we shall have taught 775,000 of the current 800,000 teachers in Egypt. However, the success of the program could not be possible without the committed efforts and understanding of the Ministry of Education, which has facilitated all the necessary means to enable us to reach the maximum number of teachers."

Earlier in the day, Dr. Roth had visited several schools to see firsthand the development of the program and its positive impact on the teaching methods.

"Through the Teach to the Future program teachers learn from other teachers how, when, and where to incorporate technology tools and resources into their lesson plans," explains Karim Fahmy, General Manager Intel Egypt, Levant and North Africa. "In addition, they experience new approaches to create assessment tools and align lessons with educational learning goals and standards. The program incorporates use of the Internet, Web page design, and student projects as vehicles to powerful learning."

Launched in Egypt in 2004, Intel® Teach to the Future now covers most of the governorates. ITF honored today some of the special teachers and leaders of education from governorates of Menoufia, Aswan, Qena, Qalioubia, Port Saeed, Alexandria, Luxor, Menia and North Sinai, as a result of the cooperation of the Directorates of Education of the Governorates, the National Centre for Examination and Evaluation of Education, and the Regional Technology Development Centre of the Ministry of Education.
