Sun to shine with 'Galaxy' state-of-the-art server range at GITEX Saudi Arabia 2006

Sun Microsystems and its channel development provider, Tech Access, will showcase a comprehensive range of server and storage solutions at GITEX Saudi Arabia 2006 in Riyadh from April 23rd - 27th.

The exhibition will highlight the latest developments and applications in IT to distributors and decision-makers in the Kingdom.
At the exhibition, Sun will promote its new 'Galaxy' product range, a state-of-the-art set of rack-mountable, enterprise-class servers. The Galaxy server is set to appeal all kinds of businesses across the GCC with its unparalleled simplicity and versatility

GITEX delegates will also be among the first in the Middle East to see Sun's latest breakthrough technology - Niagara, the world's first high-performance, energy efficient and eco-responsible processor. Research shows that Niagara, also known as the Sun UltraSPARC T1 processor, delivers performance that can eliminate the number of Web servers in the world by half, thereby cutting down power requirements and having the same effect in reducing carbon dioxide emissions as planting one million acres of trees.

Commenting on Sun and Tech Access's participation at GITEX Saudi Arabia 2006, Chris Cornelius, MD Sun Microsystems Middle East said,

"This year, Sun and Tech Access will focus on displaying our comprehensive portfolio of solutions for the region's horizontal and vertical markets. Customers in Saudi Arabia have highlighted their most pressing business challenges, including how to secure information, reduce cost and complexity, and manage their enterprises more effectively - we aim to address these concerns through Sun's software, hardware and information management solutions."

"With a track record of more than 17 years in the Kingdom, Sun's mission in Saudi Arabia is to increase the value, efficiency and profitability throughout every aspect of our customer's business," added Cornelius.

Sun will utilize GITEX to showcase updates in its Java Desktop System (JDS) and Star Office productivity ranges, as well as its industry-leading identity management software, which provides best-of-breed enterprise security for firms across the GCC.

Appealing to enterprises as well as SMB players, Sun will also demonstrate the success of its Solaris 10 Operating System. The OpenSolaris project will offer students, IT professionals and enthusiasts a detailed insight into Sun's key platform and enable them to develop their own modifications of the Solaris system. Also on display will be a wide portfolio of StorageTek's information management solutions which offer a flexible, cost-effective approach for growing storage demands in the region.

"GITEX Saudi Arabia enables the in-country expertise of our partners in the Kingdom to shine through," concluded Cornelius.
A number of the Sun's key in-country partners will be joining Sun and Tech Access to engage customers and other executive visitors and educate the audience on the strength of their hardware solutions.
