Ibis hotel, a part of the ACCOR Group Dubai, organized a 'Beach Cleaning Day'.
Mr. Hussein Kahil, deputy manager Ibis World Trade Centre Dubai, inaugurated the "Beach Cleaning Day" with the help of over 20 associates from different departments of Ibis who gave up their precious time to spruce up the Jumeirah Beach area and support this noble cause. The chosen clean-up spot was the Jumeirah open beach.
The programme commenced at 7 am and lasted for a few hours, at the end of which several bags of waste and debris were collected and brought back to the hotel for recycling.
"We chose this beach area because it gets very busy and active during the weekends, and people tend to leave a lot of waste behind. The wastage left behind, like plastic bags and cigarette butts are harmful to nature. We are initiating this programme to promote responsibility and awareness among people and make them realize that every person, regardless of age and nationality, is responsible for the wellbeing of the planet," said Mr. Hussein Kahil from Ibis.
He added, "The positive response we received from Dubai Municipality and our environmental activities within the hotel has spurred us to further promote ecological issues amongst Dubai residents. We can all do our duties to protect and conserve the areas we live in. We have big plans for the future to further extend our public awareness activities and build on the success we've achieved so far."
It was a small but timely reminder from the team at Ibis that the future of the planet lies in our hands and it was our responsibility to ensure that our children have a pure environment to grow up in.
