DTCM launches Arabic & German versions of Dubai Official Pocket Guide

The third edition of the English version of the Dubai Official Pocket Guide was released earlier.

The convenient pocket-sized official guide acts as a quick reference guide for tourists including important information on the local culture, business and different activities within Dubai.

The pocket guide also contains selected hotel listings, restaurants, shopping malls and various tips about how to reach them.

The foreword of the book has been written by the DTCM Director General, Mr. Khalid A Bin Sulayem. In his foreword Mr. Bin Sulayem said : "Dubai has always been at the forefront of excellence and innovation and new facilities and infrastructure are being added to increase Dubai stature as the leading leisure destination of the world."

Mr. Ahmed Al Tunaiji, DTCM Manager, Media and Advertising said:

"The official pocket guide is a comprehensive handbook of information and listings that tourists as well as residents of Dubai are bound to find very useful. Following the success of the English version of the pocket book, we have now come out with the Arabic and the German versions."

"We have chosen to print Arabic and German versions of the pocket guide because there has been a perceptible increase in the number tourists coming in from Arab countries and from Germany," Mr. Tunaiji added.

In 2005, the total number of Arab hotel guests in Dubai stood at 2,103,172 an increase of 13 per cent from 2004. There was also a significant increase in the number of German hotel guests to Dubai in 2005 with their numbers totaling at 264,298, an increase of 12 per cent from 2004.

More than 10,000 copies of the Arabic version of the pocket guide and 30,000 copies of the German version have been printed by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and will be distributed free of cost through the nine Visitor Information Bureaus in Dubai.

The DTCM Visitor Information Bureaus are located at Dubai's major shopping malls, Baniyas Square, Shaikh Zayed Road and at the Dubai Airport.
