The award will be presented by the conference's patron, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Emirates Airline, at a lunchtime ceremony on the first day of the conference sessions, April 30, at the Madinat Jumeirah Conference Centre, Dubai.

According to conference organiser Jonathan Worsley, the vision of Dubai as a 21st century centre of excellence had provided an inspiration for many of the speakers and delegates, many of who were looking to invest or operate in the city, or learn from the city's ideas and best practices.

"Many destinations around the world have the raw product of sunshine and sand, but Dubai has been fortunate to have a leader that has used these ingredients to turn dreams in to reality and invest in a tourism infrastructure that can rival the best worldwide,"
he said.

"Dubai is world-renowned for its innovation, but it now has many other strands in its economic development. The Palm islands, the hotels, malls, beaches, sports facilities and theme parks will underpin all of this development - and it is this achievement we are recognising and applauding this week."

The Arabian Hotel Investment Conference will run from April 29 - May 1, 2006 at Dubai's Madinat Jumeirah conference centre. The conference is organised by Jonathan Worsley, Managing Director of International Hospitality Services and MEED Conferences.
