French President visits Alcatel Middle East Headquarters in Egypt

Alcatel welcomed to its Middle East headquarters in Cairo the French President Jacques Chirac, in the frame of his state visit to Egypt.
During their visit, the delegation toured Alcatel's regional training centre, where Alcatel provides learning opportunities for employees and customers in the region and worldwide. Some of Alcatel's training and educational experts provided them with an insight into the major programs being taught which cover the whole lifecycle of a telecommunications network, starting from the preliminary network design phase. The delegation was able to see some of the training courses which were being held.
The mission of the Regional Training Centre is to capitalize on both the company's global resources and local expertise to provide high-quality, state-of-the-art training, by developing courses that supports current business needs. And in line with its corporate social responsibility strategy, Alcatel training centre also plays an active role in supporting education in Egypt. For many years now, the training centre has participated in projects and actions that support education by using its expertise to train engineering students from Cairo University, the French University in Egypt, the National Telecommunications Institute and the Future Generation Foundation.
As part of Alcatel's efforts to ensure the professional development of its employees and to better respond to its' clients' needs, Alcatel is planning to widen the scope of the training centre further by launching a branch of the Alcatel University here in Cairo in order to serve the region.
Alcatel University is a global network of education and training centers that provides training and education for employees and customers. By developing "just in time" training that supports current business needs, Alcatel University helps promote a culture of continuous learning.
