Construction of 824 govt houses worth Dhs535 million underway

According to AbdulRahman Sifaee, Director of the Government Housing Department at the municipality, these projects include construction of 259 houses in Hatta at a cost of more than Dhs180 million, 232 houses in Oud Al Matina at a cost of over Dhs151 million, 173 houses again in Oud Al Matina at a cost of over Dhs90 million, 114 houses in Al Qouz at a cost of more than Dhs52 million, 25 houses in Al Hebab at a cost of over Dhs32 million, and 21 houses in Al Leseily at a cost of more than Dhs24 million.

The projects also include the construction of a mosque in Al Qouz at a cost of Dhs1.5 million, and four mosques in Dubai - Al Ain Road at a cost of Dhs2.5 million, apart from maintenance works on some of the existing government housing projects.

Al Sifaee noted that these projects show the Dubai government's keenness to provide a decent and dignified life to UAE citizens and improve their living conditions.

Citing a study by the Government Housing department, he said Dubai Municipality had endorsed at the beginning of last year the construction of government houses taking into consideration the condition of the current buildings as well as new attractive designs and needs of the local families as regards utilities and services.

The project's duration is one to two years to cover all the areas, he said.
