Gulf Maritime Exhibition to open at Expo Centre Sharjah on April 24

The Gulf Maritime Exhibition, Middle East's premier maritime event dedicated to meeting the complete requirements of the commercial, government, and military maritime industry, will begin at Expo Centre Sharjah on April 24, 2006.

This year's edition will see the participation of 150 leading marine companies including from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.

The three-day event will display Deck machinery and other vessel equipment, Docking equipment, Electronics, Communication and navigation systems, Engine and propulsion systems, Fuel and lubricants, Ride control systems, Sound and vibration control systems, Marine interiors, Paints and coatings, latest vessel building designs and technology, equipment for fishing, Offshore support vessels, cargo ships, tankers, tugs, ferries, and patrol boats, Ship repair and port operations products, and Cargo handling services.

Visitors at the exhibition will include Vessel owners and operators, Ship and boat builders and repairers, Ship chandlers, Classification society and naval architects, Suppliers/Manufacturers/Repairers of engines and propulsion systems, Marine engineers, Suppliers of shipbuilding material, marine equipment and services, and electronic equipment, and Government agencies from across the region.

A major attraction for the regional maritime industry at this year's Gulf Maritime exhibition will be the product presentations and seminars that have been organized on the sidelines.

The seminars, besides providing visitors opportunities to interact with key players in the global maritime industry, will witness the launch of several new products and services. The seminars will be complemented by forums where important issues concerning the regional maritime industry will be taken up for discussions by industry associations and maritime companies.

The opening day of the exhibition will witness the hosting of the offshore Service Vessel Forum. The forum will focus on building appropriate offshore service vessels for the Gulf in appropriate numbers. The day's product presentation session will cover Electrical Package Solutions by Germany-based Sam Electronics and a single window solution for new builds and retrofits for the Middle East Maritime Industry by Emphor and Sam Electronics.

On April 25th, the SEA-PAX GULF Forum will discuss economical, convenient, and safe transport alternatives for the UAE.

The third and final day's forum will highlight on designing, building, and equipping suitable craft for the Gulf, especially patrol, assault and rescue vessels. Product presentation of the day will include the presentation of "Infotainment - an integrated solution" by Emphor FZCO - Lufthansa Systems.

The Gulf Maritime exhibition is an annual event held under the Patronage of Sharjah Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi. It is organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Gulf Maritime Exhibition will be open on April 24 and 26 from 10 am to 6 pm and on April 25 from 10 am to 7 pm for trade visitors only.
